    Historic December Warm-Up

Cripple Creek, Colorado | January 2, 2026 – After historic warm temperatures swept through the Pikes Peak region in December, winter has finally returned to complete Ice Castles. The magic returns to Cripple Creek as Ice Castles officially sets opening day for Saturday, January 10, 2026 at noon.

Ice Castles was nearly complete in mid December when a historic warm-up temporarily halted ice growing. Cold temperatures returned just after Christmas allowing Ice artisans to begin working around the clock to prepare the attraction for opening day.

Beginning Saturday, January 10, guests will be able to step into magic and wonder with a landscape filled with ice slides, towers, tunnels and caverns. Explore stunning new sculptures crafted by internationally renowned ice sculptors. Every element is designed to immerse visitors in a whimsical, fairy-tale environment.

The icy fortress also features a frosty twist with the Frozen Tap Ice Bar, the coolest spot in town to enjoy chilled beverages in a one-of-a-kind ice bar experience. Guests can also warm up with warm beverages and indulgent sweet treats from our on-site concessions.

“This season marks 15 years of Ice Castles, and we’re thrilled to celebrate that milestone back in Cripple Creek for our third season,” said Kyle Standifird, CEO of Ice Castles. “Our artisans have poured their hearts into this castle, and we’re excited to share it with thousands of guests who come to experience the wonder of winter.”

Ice Castles tickets are on sale on the attraction’s website, www.icecastles.com.
